This is an illustration of a D&D character I played. He was an homage to the rough and tumble anti-hero. During the game I would only speak in 80's action hero puns. It was pretty ridiculous but very fun.

This is an illustration of my best friends D&D character Slickfingers. He played an albino Kender rogue and I played his brother Cheezwhiz. I found that often the silliest characters allowed for some pretty dramatic scenarios.

Another D&D character illustration for my friend Joe's game. The description he gave me for this character was that he was not very bright and would hit his head against everything. It somehow turned into a Klingon Hulk Hogan but I still like it.

Here was my first attempt at illustrating my D&D character Gene Narrick. I like doing cel shaded illustrations first to kind of work out the shapes and overall concept. I ultimately went a different way with Mean Gene but still a pretty fun illustration.

This is an illustration I did for my Visual Development class at CSULB. The idea was to do a mashup of something so I decided to do A Midsummers Night Dream as a Space Opera. This was the final illustration based off of the environment, character and prop I developed for the assignment. I did a rough sketch of Puck laying on a bed staring at the flower that wept the liquid that puts people to sleep and that became the basis of my idea for this illustration.

Persephone was already designed and finalized by the time I came on board so this is just a drawing of her that I did to try and get the feeling for her. The Content team described her as a young French girl around 18 years old... I did this drawing before I had the age of the character, but truth be told, since the visual inspiration and style guides we were given as reference were "Paranorman" and "Coraline", it just feels like she should be young in order to keep that whimsical contrast with

In the introduction of the game you meet Persephone's cat and I thought it would be fun to make it an Egyptian Hairless Sphynx named Dionysius or Monsieur Dio unless I can come up with a better name for him.

So here the ghoul enemy for Persephone. Man this thing is super disgusting. I imagined this thing like a flesh bag on peg leg stumps, feasting on cadavers and filling up with gas and acid. He has a gullet that fills up with all of that acid and cadaver debris that he then vomits as a cone breath attack.

This was actually my second take on the Guardian for the 2nd level. The design lead really loved the skull warpaint face of my first submission but wanted more of a pear shape to her body.

Like the design of Persphone, the design for this creature in the game called a Corrupt Soul had already been finalized by one of the other concept art designers named Gil Ona.

Here is the final design for the Hellhound enemy. Since he is a re-occurring enemy the team lead suggested that I make it less Egyptian and more general so that we can just change the colors to make it fit on any of the levels we want.

So here is a version where the countess has wings made of stained glass that fold below her waist like a petticoat skirt. The silhouette of this is pretty striking but probably way too complex for our game.The shapes I used for the wings were from a stained glass in Russia that reminded me of feathers.

Here are a bunch of silhouettes I did for one of the repeating enemies in Persphone called the Hail Cannon.. this is the first stage when designing things in concept art. I tried to create some variety of shapes drawing inspiration from insects, crustaceans and squids. Since this enemy has a stomping attack I used some squid tentacles, rhino feet and nasty oversized spider feet. It was a fun exercise.
