Biography
Clute
Born: Vallejo, CA
Studied at:
BFA Illustration - California State University Long Beach, CA
AA Fine Art - Saddleback College Mission Viejo, CA
Clute spent most of his childhood straddled between the world around him and the worlds he imagined. A latchkey kid and self proclaimed purveyor of geek culture, he grew up obsessing over fantasy illustrations, Star Wars, comic books, animation and video games. This early fascination with narrative, sequential art and fiction often serves as a formal inspiration for his designs and prompted his decision to leave a career in the financial industry and rededicate his life toward a career in visual development. In his personal work, Clute uses a variety of mediums to explore the mass cultural psychology of language, pop culture, history and its contextual connection to the search for self. Clute’s work explores zeitgeist themes juxtaposed with the quiet intimate moments of the human condition with an emphasis on classical craft.
